The Difference Between Commercial and Residential Cleaning

Cleaning is cleaning, but the way it’s delivered looks quite different depending on whether it’s a business or a home behind the door. Understanding the difference helps explain why the two services are structured so differently.

Commercial cleaning is usually scheduled around a business’s opening hours, often early morning, evening or overnight, so it doesn’t disrupt the working day. It tends to follow a set contract with a consistent team, covering shared spaces like offices, washrooms and communal areas, and it’s built to handle higher footfall and heavier use.

Residential cleaning is more flexible by nature. It’s built around a household’s own routine rather than a business’s, and there’s rarely any obligation to commit to a long-term contract — many people book a one-off clean or a semi-regular visit rather than a fixed schedule. The focus tends to be more personal too, covering the specific rooms and priorities that matter to that household.

Both services share the same foundations: trained staff, a reliable schedule, and cleaning done properly. Our commercial cleaning service covers offices, retail and industrial premises, while our residential cleaning service covers homes, from regular visits to one-off deep cleans.
